UCC Karate Club kicks off 2014/2015 season
Well, we’re already a month into college and have 4 weeks of training behind our belts! September has been an excellent start to the year with plenty of returning Karateka and staggering numbers of new faces attending the dedicated beginners’ classes with more always welcome!
We had an incredible weekend-long session with Sensei Scott Langley, a 6th Dan black belt, where he demonstrated the art of karate along with a showcase of some of the finer details. We also had the lucky experience to train under Sensei Rick Hotton from the US of A, which would have been possible without the strong links UCCKC has been building with WTKO Cork, a local club based in Donnybrook.
We had a great night out last Thursday alongside the Taekwondo and Judo clubs! We started off the night at the New Bar, here in UCC. It was a great night and, as corny as it sounds, chance to meet new friends! We will also have a collaboration with the UCC Judo club this week! They will be attending our training this Tuesday at 6pm and we will go to their training this Wednesday at 9pm which should be a laugh but also very informative! We should also have a similar collaboration later in the year with the UCC Taekwondo club! Also, be sure to listen out for extra training sessions if you just can’t get enough Karate and check out our new website if you haven’t yet @ http://karate.ucc.ie/! Keep up the training and you’ll be able to grade with no trouble around the start of next year (optional)! Looking forward to seeing you all at our next training!
(Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm in Hall 1 of the Mardyke!)
