End of another term
And as another term comes to pass, the karateka of UCC karate club have another year’s experience under their belts! This year has been an astounding year with so many new faces and it’s obvious that there’s a bright path ahead for them all wherever they choose to venture. There have been great collaborations over the year which we are all grateful for as they were some of the most enjoyable and experiences of the year from tussling with UCC Judo to chopping boards with UCC Tae Kwon Do! There has also been plenty of healthy competition between UCC Karate and many universities across the country from interdisciplinary intervarsities in Dublin to All-Ireland karate intervarsities in Galway! That’s not to mention the many open competitions hosted by WTKO and JKA that were attended! Of course we don’t like to brag but we have had to procure a second club locker.
We have also had plenty of luck to get the opportunity in training with prominent Sensei from across the globe including Sensei Rick Hotton and Sensei Scott Langley! On the off-chance that they are reading we would like to thank both of them for giving us a unique insight into Karate!
We would also like to thank all of our own teachers as they were there across the year and played an integral part in our development from Kyu to Dan or Kyu to an even higher Kyu! Even to ‘learn one new thing each day’. That is something that we can take with us even in our daily lives.
We hope that everybody keeps fit and continues their ‘core’ exercise over the summer as we are hoping to see a brand new flock of budding karateka next semester who could give everyone a run for their money!
